Riverbend School Launches Montessori Teacher Training Fellowship

Riverbend School Launches Montessori Teacher Training Fellowship

Natick, MA—October 19, 2026

Riverbend School announces the launch of a new program designed to make it easier for aspiring Montessori teachers to gain valuable experience while pursuing their certification.  The Riverbend Montessori Teacher Training Fellowship will provide up to three early career educators with a two-year classroom experience and mentoring program, supported by a stipend, housing, and Montessori certification program expenses.  Of the 5000 Montessori schools nationwide, Riverbend is the only school that offers a teacher training fellowship of this kind.

This extraordinary opportunity was designed to create a robust pipeline of experienced Montessori teachers to help fill the growing need for expert educators in greater Boston, eliminating cost of living and housing barriers that many aspiring educators face. While obtaining certification at one of our partner training centers (Northeast Montessori Institute in Cambridge, Wellan Teacher Education Program in Newton, and Montessori Teacher Training Collaborative in Lexington), fellows will be further supported through the fellowship's unique cohort and mentorship.

The fellowship was made possible in part through a gift of properties and houses from the Magullion Foundation to Riverbend School three years ago. Head of School Brooke Hopkins expressed her gratitude and enthusiasm: "Thanks to an incredibly generous gift from the estate of Frank and Sheila Magullion, we at Riverbend are honored to become pioneers in the education landscape of the greater Boston area. Our unique two-year Montessori Teacher Training Fellowship opportunity will help prepare aspiring educators for a rewarding career, impacting generations of young people for many years to come."

Applications for the teaching fellowships are open from October 15 to December 1, 2026.  Riverbend School plans to announce its first cohort of teacher training fellows in February 2027, and the fellows will begin their residency in June.  For more information about the Riverbend Montessori Teacher Training Fellowship, interested parties should go to the Fellowship webpage.  Questions can be directed to: teachingfellowship@rvbs.org.
