About Us
The Second Step is a nonprofit organization that helps survivors of domestic violence heal and thrive in safe and supportive communities. Our experienced attorneys, advocates, and educators provide comprehensive services, including safety planning, legal advocacy, counseling, support groups, housing stabilization, community education and other essential services throughout Greater Boston and beyond. All services are provided for free.
Legal Services Program: Trauma Informed Legal Services For Survivors. Our team of Staff Attorneys provides Full Representation, Limited Assistance Representation, advice & consultation on matters including Abuse Prevention Orders, Family Law, Immigration and Housing.
Intervention & Advocacy: Our Domestic Violence Advocates provide direct services to survivors in the community to find safety from abuse, build skills, develop resilience, heal from trauma and thrive.
Prevention Education: We conduct community outreach and education on domestic violence and healthy relationships to proactively reduce the occurrence of abuse and build healthier communities. We provide community education and awareness events, healthy relationships trainings and webinars with a range of community groups, businesses, schools, and colleges.
