SUMMARY:The Fragility of Memory
DESCRIPTION:Generously funded by the Framingham Cultural Council. \n\n\n\nIn her series the Fragility of Memory Martha Wakefield explores themes of pathos\, memory\, and mementos. Hidden away in her childhood home were items whose stories are missing yet seemed weighted with sentiment. Each object undergoes a material metamorphosis to the reimagined.\n\n\n\nBy reframing them she traces a line between the now and then seeking an empathic bridge to the ethereal echoes of family. Wakefield will discuss the creating of these one-of-a-kind mixed media objects and the various processes she utilizes.\n\n\n\nAttendees are invited to bring a copy of a photograph of an object (or a small object itself) that has sentimental value to them for use in creating an artwork.\n\n\n\nMartha Wakefield\, is a visual artist whose work examines memory\, the passage of time and family histories through mixed media and experimental photography.\n\n\n\nFor questions or more information please contact Claudia Ruiz\, FHC Programs Manager at claudia@framinghamhistory.org
